The Pools
Halcyon Hot Springs has the largest offerings of pools weโve ever experienced โ a hot pool, warm pool, ice cold plunge pool, and seasonal (lukewarm) swimming pool โ and we enjoyed them all! With so many pools to choose from, none were crowded!
Warm Pool, Halcyon Hot Springs |
I recommend tuckering the kids out in the swimming pool first, so you can savor a long, luxurious soak in the warm pool after. For a wonderful, weightless feeling, grab a couple pool noodles (there are plenty poolside), lie back, and float in the healing waters.

The setting is serene and the scenery is amazing, so you will want to stay a while! We will definitely bring a book next time so we can read between soaking sessions.

Fun fact: The hot springsโ name is derived from the Greek myth of the goddess Alcyon, daughter of Aeolus, ruler of the winds. When Alcyonโs husband died in a shipwreck, she threw herself into the sea, whereupon she and her husband were turned into halcyon birds (European Kingfishers). Each winter when she laid her eggs near shore, Aeolus calmed the winds so the eggs wouldnโt be washed away. Later, โhalcyon daysโ became known as time of peace.
Dining
The Kingfisher Restaurant at Halcyon Hot Springs offers local fare with flare in a gorgeous setting overlooking the lake. A splash of chocolate syrup makes a mojito decadent, while cabbage is swapped for daikon to make a delightfully refreshing coleslaw, and port demiglaze brings out the richness of the ribeye. We loved the Dungeness Dip, Pacific Sockeye Salmon, and 63 Acres Ribeye, and were pleased to see healthy options on the kids menu like salmon (which my eldest daughter chose) and grilled chicken.
