Why You Need A Canmore Nordic Centre Season's Pass

by - Thursday, October 05, 2017

The Canmore Nordic Centre is a world class facility with terrain for all levels and spectacular scenery. If you plan on cross country skiing with your family at least 6 times this season, a family season's pass will save you money - especially if you get the Early Bird deal in October (10% off)! Individual season's passes pay for themselves in 11 visits at Early Bird pricing. See why we love cross country skiing at the Nordic Centre!

  1. They have snow! Snow making on 20 kilometres of trails ensures a longer season with more consistent conditions. We skied until mid April last season!

    Super spring skiing!
  2. World class grooming: The grooming here is amazing and done on a daily basis, so every morning you can ski on pristine tracks. There's a reason that competitive cross country skiers train and race here (the fact that the terrain is rad also helps)!

  3. 65+ km of groomed trails -  for classic and skate skiers of all levels!
    • Skate skiing: If you've had a hard time finding skate skiing trails, you will love skiing at Canmore Nordic Centre. Tons of trails to choose from!
    • My favorite trails: As a classic skier, I love challenging myself on Olympic (a short, black run with a big climb up "Beckie's Hill" and awesome descent), Roller Coaster, and King of Sweden (another black run).
    • My kids' favorite trails: My kids enjoy Banff Loop (green) to the Meadow Hut, and Lynx (a rolly blue trail). It is a slight uphill grade to the hut, so coming back is quite fast. Teach newer skiers to take one ski out of the track and make a half snowplow to slow themselves down.

Fun trails for the whole family!
  4. Night skiing! 6.5 km of beginner terrain (Banff Loop) are illuminated at night! We take advantage of this on Friday nights when we arrive in Canmore. Did you know night skiing is free? And you can make the ski as hard as you like but just skiing faster!

  5. Epic views: Perched above Canmore, the Nordic Centre's views are hard to beat. My favorite viewpoint is near Meadow Warming Hut (2.6 km from the Day Lodge).

  6. Comfort: Warm up in the large Day Lodge or Meadow Warming Hut 2.6 km from the Day Lodge. The Day Lodge has a concession, wifi and showers for your convenience. My husband and I take turns skiing and hanging out with the kids in the lodge when they get all tuckered out.

  7. Wax Rooms: Rooms #1 and #2 are open to the public at no cost. Wax your skis here instead of mucking up your garage!

  8. Convenient location: Canmore Nordic Centre is only 105 km from Calgary, and less than 10 minutes from downtown Canmore. We love dining at Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company after a good ski. Public transit goes from downtown Canmore to the Nordic Centre if you're visiting without a car.

  9. Lessons and Rentals available onsite: Trailsport, adjacent, to the Day Lodge has cross country skis, fatbikes, snowshoes, winter disc golf and orienteering equipment, and bike trailers for rent.
Beckie's Hill is on Olympic Trail
  10. Economical: A family season's pass pays for itself in about 6 visits if you have 2 kids that are 6 & up (children 5 & under ski free). Individual passes pay for themselves in 12 visits (or 11 with the Early Bird discount). Save 10% on a season's pass when you buy before October 31, 2017!
